How Do I Change DNS Settings for My MX, C NAME, A RECORD, etc?

Solution

HostingNC.com Support Team will need to make any changes to your web sites' DNS setting for "MX entries" that share the same priority, "A record"s or "CName"s. For MX records that each have different priorities, those can be changed inside the Hosting cPanel (Included with Business and Advanced Hosting) using the MX Entry icon.

Please request DNS changes by submitting a ticket at the Helpdesk. To help expedite the process, please include your cPanel password or the last 4 digits of the credit card number inside the body of the ticket.

Here are some examples of different DNS records:

  • CName: blog.yourdomain.com --> ghs.google.com
  • A record: friends.yourdomain.com --> 74.220.195.50 (always point to an IP address)
  • MX Entries: yourdomain.com --> 5 ALT1.ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM
  • MX Entries: yourdomain.com --> 5 ALT2.ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM
