IMAP Setup
Configuring IMAP Apple Mail
Note: We do not allow the default IMAP account settings used by the Apple Mail program. Please follow our setup instructions very carefully to ensure that the client is configured properly with our servers. If configured incorrectly, your account could result in having IMAP disabled.
1. Click the
Mail
menu
2. Select
Preferences
3. Click the
Accounts
icon
4. Click the
+ sign in
the bottom-left corner of window
5. Select
IMAP
as the Account Type, and fill in a general description of the account (Work, HostingNC.com, etc)
6. Type your
Email Address
and your
Full Name
into the corresponding fields
7. Type
imap.hostingnc.com
in the
Incoming Mail Server field
8. Enter your account
User Name
(ie. username.enterprise) and
Password
into the corresponding fields
9. In the
Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP)
drop-down menu, select
Add Server
...
10. In the new window, type
smtp.hostingnc.com
in the
Outgoing Mail Server
field
11. In the
Authentication
drop-down menu, select
Password
and retype your
Username and Password
into the correspondingĀ fields, then click
OK
12. In the account preferences please click on advanced and find the
Imap Path Prefix line
and remove the ' .' in the line. This will allow you to subscribe to all folders.
* Be sure that "Keep copies of messages for offline viewing" is set to "Don't keep copies of any messages". Having this set otherwise, will result in IMAP being disabled for your account
Configuring IMAP Apple Mail w/SSL
1. Click the
Mail menuSelect Preferences
2. Click the
Accounts
icon
3. Click the
+ sign in
the bottom-left corner of window
4. Select
IMAP
as the
Account Type
, and fill in a general description of the account (Work, HostingNC.com, etc)
5. Type your
Email Address
and your
Full Name
into the corresponding fields
6. Type
imap.hostingnc.com
in the
Incoming Mail Server
field
7. Enter your account
User Name
(ie. username.enterprise) and
Password
into the corresponding fields
8. In the
Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP)
drop-down menu, select Add Server...
9. In the new window, type
smtp.hostingnc.com
in the
Outgoing Mail Server
field
10. Select
Use Secure Socket Layer (SSL)
11. In the
Authentication
drop-down menu, select
Password
and retype your
Username and Password
into the correspondingĀ fields, then click
OK
12. Click the
Advanced
button
13. Be sure that "Keep copies of messages for offline viewing" is set to "Don't keep copies of any messages". Having this setĀ otherwise, will result in
IMAP
being disabled for your account.
